Perry Argel

Argel is a gifted visual artist and musician who has gained a welcome in the art communities of Australia, Japan, Germany and other European and Filipino art communities, including those in Baguio, the Mountain Province and Boracay. This is largely due to an unpretentious individuality and an untainted sense of his own art. He is among the first musicians who originated the drumming movement that one might call “neo-tribal jamming.” This evolved into a form of Filipino contemporary music that has led many Bacolodnons to collaborative work with groups like Asin. He was also among the pioneer members of Pamilya Pintura, a visual arts group that helped in the creative birthing of many of our well-regarded contemporary Negrense artists.
